Play Store freezes?

If I want to download an app, the Play Store simply freezes or crashes after a certain amount of time. If I want to cancel the download, everything breaks down or I can't do anything for about 10 seconds and then the install button is in the Play Store again, but the download manager shows that the app is still being downloaded. Have restarted my phone several times and emptied the cache. What can I do to make everything "normal" again? Have a Huawei P8 lite 2017, if that's important.
