I read that Huawei's grace period has expired. I own a Hauwei Mate 20 lite that I got sometime between August 1st and December 1st. Do I have to be afraid that my cell phone got an Android license within the dispute? And how will it work out (e.g. No Google Playstore, etc.)?
As of now, there's no longer any free mingen soup for Google employees! FROM OVER. THE END!
Oh no
Unfortunately, I can't tell you how it is with you, but the newer models from Huawei don't have a PlayStore or something similar, i.e. There's no Google or Chrome either, hope I could help you
Yes is sad… The soup is great…
No, all Huawei phones that currently have the Android system will keep it. Just not new Huawei cell phones.
So I have them all as an app
Chrome etc. Works also etc.
Many thanks.
There's no dispute between Google and Huawei, but rather between the USA and China, Drump said he had to play up again.
It's about the Google services, not Android itself.
Yes, typical for him
Or something… OK as I said thank you.
Nobody can say exactly how it will continue.
Huawei's transition period has expired. Google is no longer allowed to work with Huawei on old devices and exchange data and new versions.
Huawei no longer receives updates from Google Play services. System updates must also be certified by Google so that Google services can run on them. No new system updates or the loss of Google services could be possible.
Thanks to the cooperation with Google, Huawei and the other partners receive the security patches a month earlier. During this time, the developers can add the patch. Due to the lack of cooperation, Huawei has to wait for the source code and is therefore one month behind schedule. Security patches are more likely to come later than now.
What exactly occurs in what form can only be seen in the future.
Your Mate 20 Lite is almost 2 years old. Apart from this topic, general update support could have come to an end or just before it. I don't know how long Huawei will support your devices or your mid-range devices. 2 years is realistic. However, it could also be 3 years.
As long as you don't make an update that might remove the Google services or make them unusable, your device will continue to run as usual. Server-side access to Google services should not be blocked.
As mentioned earlier, it is a possible scenario. Only Huawei knows how exactly Huawei exploits its possibilities.
Does that mean something like, if an update comes, the services could be stopped or how? Could there be a loss? I bought my Mt. 20 lite last year. Regarding updates:
Will this contain a notification or something similar regarding the discontinuation of the play services or will I just not have to make any updates from now on?

Shortly thereafter, there was news from Huawei. There should be no restrictions for old devices.
It does not change the update period. When it's over, there will be no more updates. The period is always counted from the release and not after the purchase of the respective device.
I couldn't find how long Huawei devices will receive updates. At least there's no Android 11 for the Mate 20 Lite. That doesn't have to mean that there won't be any more security patches in the future.
