I currently use Spotify in my car via Android Auto. Everything works fine. But now I want to use my tray for it. The tablet does not have a SIM card. I can download and listen to the Spotify app there. If I want to load Android Auto via Google Play I get an error message saying "Your device is not compatible with this version". The tablet is a current Huawei Mediapad. It may be because it is because of the missing SIM card.
You can install Android Auto App via Apk.
After a short test I would say that everything works on my tab S4 (Wi-Fi). You can also control downloaded Spotify music offline.
