Sure, it would just come via a software update. Either on the old shell of Android or a bootable new setup. Technically no problem at all.

Just as Ifosil said it would be easy to find out about the settings and software update when it's available. But I also suggest that you can choose whether to stay with the old Android or switch to their new operating system.
Hope there's the possibility to decide for one.
But in case of emergency, if there were such a thing and you decide for Android then that's it with updates.
