I have a little problem with WhatsApp: Yesterday I bought a new phone, a Huawei. On the old device, a ZTE, WhatsApp was still running over a number whose sim card with the pin and PUK no longer exists. I've copied most files to the new phone using Huawei Phone Clone, but the WhatsApp app was one of the apps that were not copied. So before I could sign in to WhatsApp on my new phone, I had to enter the new phone number. I did that and then made a backup. There were the chats and everything else still there.
When I then logged in with the new number on the new phone, I was offered to download the backup. I did that, but only the groups that I'm in appeared. Chats were not there. In the meantime, due to over-reporting, I have several hours of suspension and can't access WhatsApp right now. The last attempt was that I looked at the files of the last backups on the new device, which are only about 50 MB of data size much smaller than the 1.9 GB, which used the backup according to the old device, as I did had made. A renewed, selective activation of a backup I could not try so far because of 7 hours of waiting until the next verification. Proposed solutions from the Internet failed or could not be implemented so far.
I hope that I could describe my situation reasonably adequately and I can find the right advice if and how I can regain my chat history.
Ps.
If I'm logged in on the old device, the gradients are there despite the new number.

On the old phone in the WA settings perform a number change, so that you have your WA account times on the new number
Only the sim stuck in the old phone brings nothing…
Now a backup in the cloud (Google drive) …
Then open the drive app, there you will see the backup
Now on the new phone (with the same Google account) install and verify WA and then you will be asked if you want to restore the backup…
Voila, everything back…
