Why do other smartphones constantly steal from others?

This is not supposed to be a bad thing about other brands or something, but why are they doing this? Be it the edge display, the idea of the punch-hole camera or the design of the main camera (where Huawei's P40 Pro was clearly inspired by the S20).

Something like this is constantly being done. Of course it is easier to copy and optimize something to be better than the competition

But why is it that so many manufacturers no longer have their own ideas?

Well - there are not too many possibilities how and where you can position the hardware on such a small device.

Really? Where is that different? It's the same with cars and clothes and with a thousand other things.

Maybe they do it because the idea they are stealing already exists and there's a market for it. This means you have a lower risk - in theory, purely - that the product is not accepted by the market because you don't have to get people used to it.

When a new car design comes out, I like to say "aha, so this time the car designer responsible for our quadrant of the galaxy came up with the idea."
