My company builds POS systems and we use (as a "long arm" for the main cash register) Huawei P20 Lite devices to give waiters the opportunity to order / pay directly at the table.
These are now running out and we're looking for a similar device to replace it.
- the largest possible display
- Price up to about 200 euro
- long availability
We do not need a lot of power, so a mid-range cell phone will be perfect. Nice would be a small notch as possible.
Of course, we do not want to search again directly in a year, so it would make sense to choose a device that is only fresh on the market and is expected to be longer to buy.
Since I myself use a Xiaomi Mi9, I first thought of Xiaomi, which bring a good price performance level. But I can see it on my device - barely a few months on the market, the successor (or modifications) come out and the device is sold out.
Anyone have a good idea about this?
You will always have the problem that follow-up models come out.
But that does not matter, as long as the software runs on it.
Is yes then probably an Android app running on it. And then you just have to keep the app up to date. Then the rest is almost no matter.
In principle, I agree with you. Of course you also want to bring "consistency" into the matter and not have to look around every few months and adapt the app.
We do not want to use different devices with our different customers. Sure, that can't be prevented, but better only every 1.5 years to update, than every 6 months.
After all, there are also manufacturers where the models are for sale longer than others. Xiaomi is just an example where the availability is rather low.
If you want to have long availability, then you should switch to Apple.
Otherwise you have as I said again and again the problem with the devices.
