Before the big screening, I planned to photograph our bookshelves, which were simply overflowing. As a reminder. I took it for granted that a digital SLR has a much, much better resolution than a new smartphone. Nevertheless, a test was done. And was completely amazed! Could it be that the resolution with the Huawei P20 lite is about the same as that of the Nikon D5100?

And I have to say that the resolution of the phone when I look at it on the display, again significantly better than here in the pictures. For example, Julian Barnes, the black spine upper left, is razor-sharp. Probably lost a lot by the ShiftN processing.

Both shots done with flash.

I attach the pictures.

First, Huawei P20 lite.

Then the Nikon.

So I see in the image of the Nikon much more dynamic and stronger contrasts.

I would like to add: A SLR makes only as good pictures as the photographer and of course the lens yields. And the kit lens (if you've used it) does not give the full potential of the camera or the sensor.

Likewise, the images of the DSLR are usually post-processed, which is much better on the basis of the huge amounts of data in RAW files as with any cell phone.

Edit: The flash distorts the comparison, of course, both.

That's my impression too.

To pure sharpen smartphones much more, than cameras. Have you ever tried photographing in tube mode?

On the other hand, of course, it always depends on the lens. Especially in terms of fine details.

In addition, DSLR can now play their trump cards usually when it gets darker, and the smartphone can no longer keep up.

Kitobjektiv and open panel, it is clear that in the corners only mud comes out. Fade off on f / 8, then even the placeholder lens is reasonably sharp.

In addition, you have swapped the pictures, you write above "First Huawei P20 lite", in the Exifs is Nikon.

Stupid. I actually treated and used the two pictures one by one, and I thought nothing could go wrong.
