Battery replacement with smartphone?

I own a Huawei P9 which has a defective battery and the display a slight jump. My question is: Does this work without problems or does not work because of the damaged display (since you have to remove it to get to the battery)?

The display does not have to be removed. All you have to do is remove the battery cover.
Thus, even with this device with this Vorschaden a battery change without problems and should not cost too much money.
