Airpods with Huawei Smartphone?

I got Airpods as a gift, but I have an Android phone (Huawei P20 lite). I read that it is not a problem to use Airpods with Android but some features are not usable. With the app "AirBattery" you can still get the battery status of the Airpods displayed on the phone, but the app, according to the developer, does not work in this respect with a Huawei device and that's what I've noticed. Can I still check the battery status in other ways with my Huawei phone? Is really annoying when they are suddenly empty 😅

I have already read this article and the app they recommend (Airbattery) does not work at Huawei Samsung or so it works but not at Huawei.
