Is this normal if this happens on the cell phone or is it broken?

Since yesterday I have had the problem that my headphones are no longer working properly. You could only hear something in one ear and since today I have heard nothing or just have problems that the headphones do not connect. I plug the cable in, but my cell phone does not notice that the headphones have been plugged in or only late and only briefly…

Next to the hole where you can put the headphones in on the right is also where the sound normally comes out if I would hear without headphones. Unfortunately, I do not know exactly what that is called. In any case, even with normal videos, I always heard strange noises and distortions when I turned on a video. What could that be? It wasn't from the video, I also tried to play normal videos like trailers and the noises came too. I have the Huawei P30 Lite. I would be very happy to get answers and hopefully help. I would like to know if it is my headphones or my cell phone. 💁♂️

Plug the headphones into a PC and try them there

There may be a break in the headphone cable. Try that on another device.

If it doesn't work then the cable is broken.

It's up to the headphones. It happened to me so often. I switched to Bluetooth headphones and since then no problems.

I would say it is because of the headphones, to make sure I would test it on another device
