Connect a tablet to an old printer?

I would like to print from my Huawei Mediaped M5 directly via USB documents on my old Canon Pixma iP2700 printer. I have an adapter from USB-C to old USB, but the printer is not found. On the Canon homepage drivers for Mac, Windows and Linux are displayed. Would one of them possibly work on an Android tablet? Or is it impossible to connect the printer with cable?

I had a similar problem. New tablet with USBC. Data from USB stick to tablet via USB-USBC adapter did not work. New (I think that is called OTG) cable connected and it worked fine. With USBC, the pins are somehow connected differently than with USB. Of course, it can also be something completely different. I'm not an expert. Have you ever used the printer with a PC / Mac? Of course, their drivers are not running on Android. I think so. But faith is just not knowing.

My external hard drive works well with the adapter. Unfortunately, the printer is not. I'll try it with an OTG cable.
