In short, they can no longer produce their most important technology at TSMC, the largest chip manufacturer. It's more or less a death sentence for Huawei. Network technology (5G) can no longer be built like this.
If this were the case. The chance as a European to do without Huawei 5G technology and wait until Nokia / Ericsson are ready?
Why do you see this as an opportunity?
I think it is safer to rely on European system-relevant hardware than on Chinese.
G5 In Germany it is of no use to me because the tariffs are very expensive anyway, and we're happy at home that we have at least 17MB / s speed, and that I'm glad that I have at least 1.5GB data volume in the SIM card.
Ah yes, I understand.
By the way, Nokia and Ericsson are rivals.
Can you still block both?
TSMC is not the largest chip manufacturer, not even the largest semiconductor manufacturer. What you mean is the largest foundry, i.e. A company that manufactures third-party semiconductor technology in its own factories.
Huawei can continue to manufacture network technology, but the largest partner by far (after the current orders have been completed) is no longer available, which is actually a kind of death sentence for Huawei if they can't find any other partners who can offer enough production volume. STMicroelectronics could at least pick up a part here, hopefully, because they can't be put under pressure by the United States.
It remains to be seen whether that means that the 5G network structure will be delayed.
The United States have only one purpose with these sanctions. Promote the products of your own economy.
Then why should they buy a European product?
Sure, I only noticed your spelling with the slash.
But we have, apart from one, no European hardware for 5G networks. It should not have the capacity to arm Europe promptly. And American products are no less contaminated by their intelligence agencies than Chinese products.
I do not understand the whole egg dance around Huawei regarding the 5G network technology. The backbone behind the base stations offers much greater sniffing potential and Cisco is a big player. There have already been enough incidents at the company, to put it mildly, and the Americans are just as little our friends in this regard as the Chinese.
The problem is, if you ridicule an entire industry with strange politics, you just have to live with being dependent on others. It doesn't matter whether the radio technology comes from Huawei or not.
When in doubt, Huawei will also be able to find alternatives, at least as far as network technology is concerned.
Fun fact: A "contamination" of Chinese hardware has not yet been discovered.
