I have a Huawei and so far have not found anything that I can use to scan a QR code.
Is there a setting in the camera or do I have to download an app?
You can either use Google Lens or Huawei's AI Lens.
However, this works with any QR code app!
(You can open the Huawei AI lens by swiping down on the homescreen of the Huawei launcher. On the right of the search bar there's an icon with which you can start AI Lens.)
There are apps for it. I have a Samsung and finally found that I just have to open the camera app and hold the code and it is recognized as a QR. Maybe you can do that too.
IPhone has this as a function in the camera, Android maybe only in newer versions.

A launcher is a kind of overview of all the apps that you have on your smartphone.
You can install more launcher in the Google Play Store if you don't like the standard launcher.
You can see the launcher when you go to the home screen.

You can search for it on the Play Store or on the net. It was really easy!

You just need an app. In the app store you can find a lot under QR Code Scanner,
the programs use the camera as a scanner in itself (hardware).
