I want to buy a new cell phone and I'm not sure which one would be best. Since I don't have an unlimited amount of money and Huawei is supposed to be of very good quality, I might have considered buying the P40 lite. However, there's the restriction that Google services are not available on it. Is it very awkward to download apps using the "app search"? And how is the app offering in Huawei's own provider?

Due to the current situation with Huawei and the lack of Google services, I would not recommend a Huawei device or a Huawei device without Google services.
The lack of a Google Play Store is the minor problem. The biggest problem is the lack of Google Play services.
Without Google Play services, only a few Google apps such as Maps, YouTube or Gmail with no problems. Some apps don't even run without Google services. Apps that do not come from Google also rely on Google Play services.
