My smartphone has been totally crazy since the update, what should I do?

I updated my 2 year old Huawei Mate 20 Pro to EMUI 11 today. But since then it's just crazy. It gets extremely hot on the back, can only access apps on the start screen and the page afterwards, when I close an app it starts again after 4 seconds. What can I do to make it work again or should I get a new one?
