My old Samsung phone has to be replaced.
I think the new Huawei 20 Lit is superior to the Samsung, but there still seems to be some uncertainty about WhatsApp usage.
Is there any certainty that current purchases will remove this uncertainty?
What uncertainty? Huawei uses Android, so you can also use WhatsApp.
The P20 Lite is as against all Lite models discourage, too expensive for what they offer. Prefer to visit the subsidiary Honor or Xiaomi.
I do not see any uncertainty 🤷🏼♀️
Personally, I would not buy Huawei. Because of the trade dispute between the US and China Huawei works on its own operating system. At the moment, as an end user, you still do not feel it, but it is not certain that Huawei will use Android as the operating system in the long term, and if so, whether the new operating system will support Whatsapp.

Hmm, the uncertainty, whether Huawei long-term Android remains, you have escaped?
If you now have an Android device, then you have it. It may be that Huawei completely switches to Harmony OS in a few years, but that will take a long time.
And even if Huawei's Android updates are blocked, WhatsApp can still be used.
Joah, but without the possibility of updates and only delayed bug fixes, if any, or not?
WhatsApp brings yes updates, regardless of the Android version out. I still use Android 6 on my Huawei Honor 8 because I like the interface better. On the Bugfixes and security patches I can do without on a Smartphone, with a Windows computer are already much more important.
But if someone wants 100% security, then maybe you should not resort to Huawei, but in my opinion that's just a minor clash between Trump and China, who is lying down again.
Ok, that may be a matter of opinion. Personally, I see no reason why I should put on my smartphone less security value… There are many of my data stored (contacts, e-mails, photos, videos, etc.) I would like to protect, the thing has cameras, microphones, location sensors etc., so it can be used to spy on me when infested with pests…
Well, Google is spying on you, is not it enough?
But that's right, security is important in any case, online banking, I would not necessarily do now on such an outdated device, and there are now also a lot of safety factors.
For most people, who use only YouTube, WhatsApp and Co anyway, it does not matter in my opinion, so you should not put too much value on such a trade dispute, especially if it's our Trump. ZTE was in a similar situation and now has all "rights" back.
But there still seems to be uncertainty about WhatsApp usage.
What kind of uncertainty? All already available Huawei devices can use WhatsApp, get updates, and can also use all Google services. That will not change, because these devices already have Google licenses, which can't be removed later.
There's also the official promise for the future:
https://www.zukunftsversprechen.de
And as for the future. Android is open source. So you can't ban Huawei.
Huawei also continues to rely on Android.
If Huawei no longer get Google licenses in the future, then they can still use Android. Because then they just use the AOSP.
The only downside is that security updates do not come directly from Google, but that Huawei always has to wait for AOSP to bring these updates out so that Huawei can then feed them.
So no matter how it comes, for the end user, almost nothing changes.
If Google apps are no longer preinstalled in the future, you can easily install them without problems.
If WhatsApp is not preinstalled, you can easily install it.
Huawei has only problems, because more work, more money etc. Pp.
All in all, you make yourselves completely unnecessary here in the shirt.
Buy Huawei if you're up for it.
