Question is already up. The question is whether I really need the cards or can unpack them, set them up and get started right away.

But then hopefully this SIM card symbol will not appear permanently in the status bar.

There was never a SIM card in my cell phone. I already use an SD card, but only so that I have more memory.

Should work for you without the cards.

Everything works with me over WLAN.

You can then get the Wi-Fi version which is significantly cheaper if you don't want to use it via a SIM card
