You can install everything that you can download as APK (these are the installation files for the apps). Google Play is by no means the only provider. Most apps are also available from the provider's homepage. Huawei even has its own search service for this. The only restriction: everything that doesn't require Google services. Youtube Vanced comes from a third party provider, which you can also download and install from their homepage, but I'm not sure whether it works without Google services.
