Can a cell phone display still blow today?

I currently have the Huawei P30 with an Oled display. I've had the cell phone for about 3 weeks now and often look at the display. There are also days when the display is completely on for over an hour because I have to do things. Of course, you don't have to say in full brightness. I would now be interested in whether the display matters a lot. Heard of the blow or worse performance. There are certainly many who watch a series on their cell phones for 6 hours. I'm happy about every reply

So

No, normally a cell phone screen should not blow unless you expose it to higher heat. Since it has nothing to do with the useful life.

I guess you think that a picture "burns in". If you watch series for several hours a day, it will probably not matter much because the image shown is constantly changing.

If the same thing is often shown on the display over a longer period of time, this can cause permanent damage.

I didn't think so, but it is the case with my cell phone (Samsung Galaxy Note 8). I have been using Android Auto since I got the cell phone (now over 2 years), and the cell phone in the car is permanently on (mostly at 100% brightness) and always shows the same menu items below. If something bright is now displayed on the cell phone, you can see these menu items, but only if you look closely.

With my smartwatch (Samsung Galaxy Watch), I notice this even more because the display is on 24/7 (except at night), when the display is on and nothing is shown, you can see the watchface. (Use since 1 , 5 years the same)

So yes, OLED displays can burn in.

Now if I say chat and then change the tab from time to time and then go back to Facebook e.g. Doesn't matter much, does it?

mi

Yes, it can happen if the same picture is displayed over a longer period of time.

So

Never heard of it… But that would have to be excluded with the newer cell phones

mi

Hmm, that's the way it is with my cell phone.

After two years you can already see something.

mi

No, that generally doesn't matter much.

As I said, you can only see this on my cell phone if the screen shows something bright and the brightness is raised. It doesn't bother me at all.

So

Then I would simply get a good cell phone in your place that will last for a good 6-7 years

mi

Well, if you drive a lot and have Android Auto running mostly at 100% brightness, that's not so far-fetched.

I've had the cell phone for two years.

You can only see the outline of it if something is bright and the display is set to around 100% brightness. So it doesn't bother me at all.
