I just disassembled a cell phone that fell in the toilet. The Huawei P30 Lite. It is not waterproof and was completely under water for about 30 seconds.
Nothing was needed to put in rice. The mobile phone turns on, but there are stains on the display that can only be seen when the display is switched on. There were stains left on the camera too.
Now I have opened the mobile phone completely and I can see how a dried screen / film with individual dots has remained on the (selfi camera). On the main camera, it only hit the top of the 3 lenses.
I guess these spots won't go away on their own right? Is there anything you can do about it? Cotton swabs are useless… Maybe try using disinfectant? But I don't know if I can get rid of it, the front lens is pretty narrow. What do you all mean?
And how about the display with the stains? Would it be useful to separate the display from the housing and let it dry again separately or is it a total write-off?
Or leave everything open again for a few days in a dry place?
First disassemble as much as possible and let it dry for several days.
If still there, give demin a good try. Rinse with water. If that doesn't work, use isopropanol
And next time leave out the rice, it won't do anything or just make it worse
First of all… Tearing has no function… Neither in salt.
The legends.
Bake in case of water damage… 130 degrees. (Plastick melts at 80 degrees and more.
But that doesn't help you either… The stains are water in the display It won't go away.
In addition, the whole board starts to "bloom" with water.
That's why water is always a total loss.
In the future, keep smartphones at least 100 meters away from water…
Not in the breast pocket, if you bend forward it could fall out, water or stone.
What exactly are the particles on the lint?
I hope the toilet was not used which puts the first question in the foreground
You can possibly save the camera with isopropanol, please don't scratch it with anything sharp
You should dismantle the device as far as "Safe possible" and then let it dry for a long time, but please do not put it in the blazing sun. It is not that warm at the moment, but the sun can heat a device very strongly
please leave it switched off so that no further damage can occur
The display can probably not be saved (I don't know the device). Often the water runs between the display and the display glass and these stains often remain permanently
Ps please do not put it in rice that doesn't work it just makes it worse
Hi, I'm reading… Camera lens… Sorry.
If you mean the glass from the backhousing,. Clean with spirit and Qtip. If the lens is stuck… No chance.
By the way, the normal housing will also be glued… You can't go back alone.
But it doesn't matter… Water damage = total loss.
As far as correct only please never bake smartphones as you already write Plastic would start to run away from 80 °. And please don't overhaul any salt, NEVER let the corrosion run free
That is why expensive cell phones are waterproof to a certain extent because water is 90% water-proof, that means you can be lucky if the water has not penetrated between the display and display glass, which is unfortunately the case here
When "water-resistant" cell phones started 15 years ago, Motorolle advertised that a certain model was waterproof…
He went diving with it…
Motorolla didn't want to pay because of water damage…
Went to court… "How can a waterproof cell phone have water damage?
Of course he was right, Motorola had to pay.
If you see waterproof, you shouldn't take it too literally and with diving, however, you can endure a fall into the cloak, that's what it's meant to be in the end
Thank you for your answer.
The mishap didn't happen to me. But I think the toilet was used, if not heavily.
The spots, directly on the lens, look like many individual small dots. I don't know how the camera lenses are built, but it seems to me that there's a layer in between, like plastic or something like that.
I disassembled everything so far, I only have the option of separating the display from the housing, but I would only do it in an emergency or if it really helps.
So do you advise me to put everything open in a dry place or to wait a few days? Do we have a boiler room that is relatively warm, should we put it there or rather at normal room temperature?
Because of the isopropanol, is this a cleaning solution? How should you best use this? The lenses are relatively narrow.
Thanks for your answer.
Do you know by "try it well with demin. Rinse with water"?
Is demin a solvent? And why water?
That only applies to the camera lens, doesn't it? Do you still see hope in the display?
I'm referring to rice, which in salt is supposed to prevent clumping due to moisture.
Hence the tip for the mobile phone too…
Plastic PVC melts from 180 degrees.
The 80 degrees can easily refute… Boiling water is 100 degrees marm… Since nothing melts.
Only write about things you know about.
Demineralised water. This leaves no large residues such as lime etc. When evaporating
If the water got between the foils, it's probably permanent, unless you're lucky and it's still evaporating or you can flush it out. I wouldn't take the display apart, it ends up worse than before.
I'd love to do it first
the fact that it was used unfortunately makes things even worse because Orin contains uric acid
The stains could either come from sticking (as I said, I don't know the device) but it could also come from the uric acid or, even worse, liquid in the linze
please do not remove the display these are glued you can no longer get them on it without a repair set
Place exactly open in a warm place so 30-35 degrees please do not shine into the sun the glass intensely so very high temperatures can arise in the long run
In an emergency, you can put something on an important soft cloth and carefully try to remove this layer. If there are indeed residues of glue, you can only hope that it will still be held by the housing
Basically, I would estimate your device to be a total write-off with possibly further consequential damage. Should it actually have flown in urine, the circuit board could still fail in the long run
Consider small plastic parts, solder points, adhesions, I would strongly advise against baking a smartphone
Okay, then I know what to do.
But cleaning the lenses will be a little tricky. Because they are surrounded by a plastic cover and inserted deep into it, so that I have little space to clean.
When I look at the lens like this, it looks like I can remove the cover, the "shell". Should I try this or let it dry first and wait?
In the smartphone, almost everything is just glued, including plastic parts. Which would come off when it was very hot
Okay, so let it dry first.
It looks like the plastic construction around the lens is an additional protection that can be removed, which is also where the stains are. Should I try to take it off or put it away and let it dry first?
Just as a side note, the cell phone had been in the rice for 2 days.
Better to wait because I can't see exactly what it is from a distance, I can only guess in good German but on the whole I would say total loss, try to dry it but unfortunately I don't see much chance
Just as a side note, the cell phone had been in rice for 2 days.
And the stains are still there, let it lie for a week but as I said, I see black if a repair makes sense, I would ask, especially if it says in the room that not only water but also urine has penetrated
You can take it all off, it's just glued. There are also spare parts for it
If the back cover is already gone, heat it up slightly with a hairdryer and press against it from below
I reassembled the device yesterday. Cameras are like before. A kind of "water cloud" has only remained on the screen. But everything worked.
Today the screen is extremely dark and flickering. Could it be because of the water in the screen?

Of course water reacts with circuit boards in the sense that it starts to oxidize, if I remember correctly, urine was also an issue I had already written the damage can still spread, it is quite possible that your display fails completely, the display can't be saved be
