Heat up Li-ion battery when replacing?

I have a little question that has a big impact. I'm in the process of replacing the battery on a Huawei P9 lite. As you know, it is stuck together. Can I just heat it up with a heat gun? Or will the thing fly right around my ears?

Or do you have other suggestions how I can take out the battery?

Is it really bad if the battery bends a little? Of course I don't want to use it again afterwards.

I would rather advise that you carefully dissolve the battery (do not use too much alcohol and take care that it does not get into any part of the rest of the electronics, because alcohol is a good electrical conductor) with alcohol. Perhaps you can also use distilled water, the risk there's not so high of damaging something unwanted,

Heat and unnecessary bends should be avoided as this can lead to an internal short circuit. If you can't get it out any other way, you should totally discharge the battery (after excessive heat or a bend you shouldn't use it any more).

With the way with the liquid you can destroy your device very easily, ie. Is it your responsibility if you do it like this? Deeply discharged LiPo / Li-Ion batteries can still be dangerous, the same applies here as in the liquid method.

The battery is actually used to getting warm. Once it gets warm due to the heat generated by the device, but lithium batteries also get warm themselves when a lot of current is drawn from the battery.

In any case, do not use distilled water! A grain of salt or any other kind of dirt that can dissolve in water is enough and that conducts…

The battery can be deformed a little, but not too violently…

I might try to use some kind of spatula that you can warm up a little.

All right, thanks, I got it out now.

Yes, I now did it carefully with heating, it worked.
