To be honest, I'm not someone who pays 1000.- for a cell phone, so I always look to cheap cell phones such as Xiaomi, Honor or similar.
But what about the US ban with Android and the Playstore?
Do I have major restrictions when I buy a Chinese cell phone?
There are some apps that do not run on unlicensed Android, for example a few banking apps. But there are not many and often there are workarounds or the developers are working on versions for Huawei.
Not every Chinese cell phone is automatically unlicensed, but e.g. Newer Huawei.
With Xiaomi you should e.g. Have no problems and I can recommend them even for cheaper devices.
Refers to manufacturers such as Xiaomi, OnePlus, Vivo, Oppo, Realms, ZTE & co. These have a licensed Android as well as Google Services. Not like Huawei with Honor, which are affected by the US ban.
