My first cell phone was the iPhone 4, Apple did not like it and I just got a Samsung S3 as a gift and realized that Android is much better than IOS. Now with me it is noticed that Samsung Handy price-performance-technically not really the truth is and not even any updates come.
Now I have a Huawei P20 Lite since April and, of course, the phone is good, but for my claims that's not enough, I really have to slow down to pick up mid-range phones, because for me give up after 2 years on the spirit. And since I'm not really that convinced that Huawei is the price-performance king, I keep an eye on OnePlus.
The Oneplus 6 costs RRP. Only 520! And the performance simply beats the iPhone X and Samsung S9 … That's mega Krass.
So I'm thinking about getting the OnePlus 6 in 2 years, because I guess it will cost about 400 Euro, of course that is premature, but I do not want to waste my money again. The only question is, how many years will OnePlus mobile phones receive the latest updates?
For example, if the OnePlus 6 gets the latest updates for just 2 years, then it's not smart to get your phone. But if it gets 5 years the latest updates (be it Android or their own operating system), then it suits me.
But let's see, maybe there will be a new phone next year which convinces me even more.
OnePlus has recently (28 June) published a contribution.

There are at least for 2 years new updates for the system. Thereby, e.g. New features or a new Android version (for example, Android 9 Pie). After that, there will be another year of security patches.
Since the normal variant without T has the same / very similar firmware and the 2 years also consider the T model, the OP is probably supported for 3 ½ years.
The OnePlus devices are very well represented at Custom Roms. More specifically, they have all been so far.
Custom Roms are also Android, except that they originate from the Android Open Source Project. They are developed by the community and are usually supported for many more years.
So the OnePlus One (from 2014) still got Android 8.1.
XDA is the best platform.
Oke, then I know. So it does not really make much sense in 2 years to get the Oneplus 6.
