Study: Matebook 13 or Macbook Air?

I'm starting my degree in political science this year and am now looking for a PC. After a lot of research, I now face the Huawei Matebook 13 and the Macbook Air. Both have advantages and disadvantages that make my decision difficult, so I wanted to ask you what you recommend.

The Huawei Matebook 13 is stronger than the Mac and more compatible with my Huawei phone. In addition, it is still cheaper than the Macbook Air with student discounts.

On the other hand, the price difference is minimal and Huawei uses Windows 10 (and I would have to buy MS Office too), which is less secure than MacOS. In addition, all apps are already available on the Mac, while I would have to buy them on the Matebook.

I mainly need the Ultrabook for studying, a bit of video editing and a bit of games. What am I better served with? With Apple or Windows?

The MacBook is also compatible with your Huawei smartphone. You will also probably get free office from the university. So the two arguments are wrong.
I would also like to tell you whether the Huawei is really "stronger" (most people only look at superficial things) or what else are the differences. But for that you would have to say which models are exactly.
At Apple, you should also check out their official refurbished store online. The devices are like new but significantly cheaper.

As for the general differences: It ultimately depends on whether you prefer to use MacOS or Windows. Both systems have their advantages and disadvantages. For work on itself, I clearly prefer MacOS, for example. But it's different from person to person.

A little comment on the side: My impression of the MateBooks has always been that they are a copy of MacBook Air with Windows and Huawei logo. And with all the details that are "missing" from a copy. But the new generations of MateBooks may have eliminated some mistakes.

I personally would take the MacBook, precisely because there are so many apps for studying and Apple supports the students very well

Definitely MacBook Air. I also had a Windows laptop before and then switched to a MacBook Pro. The overall package with MacOS is much better in my opinion and it runs much more stable than my Windows laptop, although it was more powerful.

I would take another look at the Dell XPS series instead.
It is difficult to say which of your mentioned notebooks is better without knowing technical details.
I personally am not a fan of MacOS. But many like it to work, but if you're used to Windows, I might prefer to get used to it instead.
That MacOS is more secure is a misconception. Since Apple's software is completely proprietary, errors are patched very slowly, which means that vulnerabilities that become known are only fixed very late.
Windows is a little bit better because it still gives the user the opportunity to solve it himself.
If you really want to have something secure, you have to use Linux, but the security problem is usually in front of the keyboard.

In summary: Try MacOS, if you don't like it, take a Windows laptop.

Small edit:
Many MacBooks have problems with cooling, design, etc.
Be careful which MacBook you buy and find out about its problems. The latest MacBook Air, for example, is artificially slowed down by an extra bad cooling solution.

Definitely not the Macbook Air. The Matebook 13 would also not be my first choice, the battery is really weak and the equipment for the price too

The Dell XPS series was also one of my favorites, but the price was too expensive for me as soon as you wanted a 9300/9380 with at least i5.

Of course, I don't know exactly what your budget looks like. There are definitely very good alternatives, which are usually even better than the MacBook.

As mentioned above, you can take a look at Lenovo's IdeaPad.
