If this is a protective film, you can definitely remove it. I think the manufacturers have learned from the Galaxy Fold debacle and if it should not be resolved, it should be clearly labeled.

My 10 year old Huawei P10 is 10 years old. It still has that film on it.
Not a single scratch. Looks like new… In the toilet or on asphalt is of course not good. Always treat like a raw egg. Best in the front in the pants. Then you can't sit on it. Not in the blouse pocket, then it stoops forward into the toilet.
